Janhvi Kapoor says her father thought her acting was natural in her debut film, Dhadak.

Janhvi Kapoor is a star in the making and has all the support from her family she could ask for. The up and coming actor has revealed her father Boney Kapoor and brother Arjun Kapoor’s reaction to watching her in Dhadak for the first time.

Janhvi was asked in a recent TV interview about her dad’s reaction on watching her in her debut movie. She imitated her Bollywood producer father and quoted him, “Wow, what natural acting you are doing.”

“Papa actually reacts in sounds so if he is happy he does a ‘hmmm’. And if he doesn’t like something, he does a ‘hmph’. So the tone of his voice is how we figure out if he is happy or not,” she said about her daughter.

In the same interview, she was asked about other compliments that she will remember for life. “Arjun Bhaiyya when he met me he said ‘It seems like you have worked with all honesty, you are not acting like a heroine, you are trying to portray your character honestly. So hearing his compliments really made me happy,” she said.

While Boney and her sister Khushi accompanied Janhvi to the Dhadak’s trailer launch earlier in June, Arjun shared a positive message of support for Janhvi on social media. “@janhvikapoor, today starts a new and a beautiful journey! You are amazing and so is @ishaan95 ! Both of you are magical in the #Dhadaktrailer…Only love for you both! All the very best to the whole team,” he had tweeted.

Janhvi has said in an interview to Vogue that her mother, late actor Sridevi, was more technical in her criticism of her when she saw rushes from the movie. “She was very technical about it. The first thing she told me was the things I needed to improve -- she felt the mascara was smudged and it really bothered her. The second half has to be different, she told me... ‘You can’t wear anything on your face.’ That’s all she told me, but she was happy,” she had said.

Dhadak releases on July 20 and also stars Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother Ishaan Khatter.
