Sridevi was worried Janhvi Kapoor will be compared to her, says dad Boney Kapoor

As Janhvi Kapoor is being compared to mother Sridevi after her debut, Dhadak, dad Boney Kapoor opens up how the late actor had foreseen this.

Dhadak has opened to mixed reviews but a decent reaction at the box office. The film’s two debutants, Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, were judged for their performances too. Janhvi especially had to deal with comparisons to mother Sridevi. The 21-year-old, while promoting Dhadak, had said that while she is aware of the comparisons, she would like to carve her own image.

Now, dad Boney Kapoor has been spoken about the comparisons and how Sridevi had foreseen this. In an interview to Deccan Chronicle, Boney said, “We knew that Janhvi would be compared with her mother. Sri knew it too, and it worried her. She prepared Janhvi for these inevitable comparisons.”

In another report in the same publication, a friend of Boney revealed how Janhvi may star in a home production next. “It would be a role very different from the one Janhvi has done in Dhadak. Hopefully, something very glamorous. Boney is known to spend money on his family films like water… Janhvi’s film from her home production will be as lavish as her mother’s Mr India,” the report said.

Talking of comparisons, Janhvi had said earlier, “I am her daughter so zaahir hai ki main unki tarah hi dikhungi. But my mum holds such a strong space in people’s heart and had a very personal connect. I hope I can please her fans also in some way in a bid to show gratitude for all the love she got. I hope I am given an opportunity to create my own identity. I don’t think anyone can be like her. What she had to offer to films and to people’s lives was greater than what any artiste could.”
