The decade-long show featured stars such as Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Sean Penn, Bruce Willis, Brooke Shields, Adam Goldberg and Isabella Rossellini in guest roles. Among them, the most talked-about appearance was that of Jennifer Aniston’s then-husband Brad Pitt.

Speaking to Lisa Kudrow about the guest stars, Aniston said, "They were always nervous. Remember? I always found it fascinating how nervous they were."

Jennifer calls Brad's cameo hilarious

The actors then spoke about the famous Thanksgiving episode in which Brad Pitt appeared. The episode was filmed in 2001, shortly after Pitt and Aniston got married. However, their on-screen dynamic was the exact opposite of their real-life relationship.

Brad played Will Colbert, a former schoolmate of Rachel Green. Will harboured a long-standing grudge against Rachel (Aniston's character), which is why he had famously formed the "I Hate Rachel Club" with Rachel’s best friend Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) during their school days.

Lisa was quick to single out Pitt’s guest appearance and called the episode one of the funniest. Lisa recalledit fondly and said, “The Thanksgiving episode when Brad was on, that was hilarious.” Jennifer agreed and said, "That was hilarious."

The actors also spoke about how the show’s format often confused guest stars. Many actors would arrive on set for just a day, only to find that scenes were constantly evolving. Jokes were frequently added at the last minute and adjustments were made depending on the reactions of the live studio audience.

"Because what's the tone? It's not theatre; it's for TV. It's not a movie. What the hell is this?" Kudrow said.

Jennifer and Brad's love story

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt’s love story remains one of Hollywood’s most iconic and closely followed romances. The two were set up by their agents in 1998 and dated for two years before tying the knot in 2000. They quickly became one of the most celebrated celebrity couples in the world.

However, their marriage did not last, and they divorced in 2005.

Brad later married his Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie. The couple eventually went through a highly publicised and bitter separation. Their divorce was officially finalised on December 30, 2024, after an eight-year legal battle that began in September 2016.
