Ant-Man and the Wasp India box office: Marvel’s Infinity War follow-up makes ₹7 crore on day 1
Ant-Man and the Wasp, the 20th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has made ₹7 crore on its first day in India.
Marvel Studios’ 20th film, Ant-Man and the Wasp, has opened to ₹7.05 crore in India, continuing a strong year for Hollywood releases. The film’s net earnings, according to trade reports, is ₹5.5 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures on Saturday. “Hollywood continues to consolidate its presence in India... #AntManAndTheWasp springs a surprise... Packs a SOLID PUNCH on Day 1... Fri ₹5.50 cr Nett BOC... Gross BOC: ₹7.05 cr... India biz... All languages,” he wrote.
In comparison, Marvel’s last film, Avengers: Infinity War opened to ₹31 crore on its way to make an all-time Hollywood record of more than ₹250 crore earned at the box office. Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 2 continued the momentum with a ₹11 crore opening day and a ₹33 crore weekend. The recent Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom made ₹53 crore in its opening weekend in India.
Ant-Man and the Wasp’s international roll-out is being staggered because of the ongoing FIFA World Cup. The film opened in the US on July 13 and will be released in several European territories next week. The film has so far made $190 million worldwide on a reported budget of $162 million.
Marvel’s next film will be February’s Captain Marvel, which will be followed by Avengers 4 in May.
