BMW has launched the X1 LWB in India at 49.90 lakh (ex-showroom), making it cheaper than the standard X1 petrol. The stretched iteration of the BMW X1 luxury SUV gets 109 mm more rear knee room and a 154 bhp petrol engine. It will be sold alongside the standard-wheelbase version of the X1 and the electric iX1 LWB in India.

The BMW X1 LWB is locally produced at BMW Group’s Chennai plant. Despite the longer body, the SUV retains the overall design and cabin layout of the standard X1. Powering the BMW X1 LWB is a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 154 bhp peak power and 230 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and drives the front wheels. Unlike the standard X1, the LWB is currently offered only with a petrol engine, with no diesel or all-wheel-drive option.
