Minister, AAP leaders detained during protest outside L-G house over Delhi bus marshals

Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, Aam Aadmi Party leader Dilip Pandey and other party leaders were detained as they staged a protest outside Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's residence over the bus marshals issue on Saturday.
This is the second time Saurabh Bharadwaj were detained by police demanding the reinstatement of marshals in buses.
The bus marshals have been protesting for getting reinstated after VK Saxena terminated their services in October last year.
On Saturday, VK Saxena met bus marshals. Delhi chief minister Atishi, who was accompanied by AAP and BJP MLAs, went to VK Saxena's office to submit a note on the issue of reinstatement of bus marshals and get his approval on it. Earlier, the note was passed in a meeting of the cabinet.
BJP MLAs met Atishi over the issue of reinstatement of bus marshals and the chief minister appealed to them to join a delegation that will submit the note to the L-G for his approval.
However, Delhi chief minister Atishi slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party alleging that it did not say anything to L-G about passing of the proposal.
“The BJP demanded a Cabinet proposal to be passed in the meeting. We called an emergency Cabinet meeting and signed the resolution that was passed in Delhi Assembly to regularise the jobs of bus marshals. We have a provided a copy to BJP as well, but they were exposed. First, the BJP was not ready to go to L-G House. Once they did, they did not say anything to L-G about passing of the proposal. Delhi government took the Cabinet decision to making bus marshals jobs permanent, now the ball is in the BJP's court,” Atishi told reporters.
“We called an emergency cabinet meeting and the resolution that was passed by the Delhi assembly to regularise bus marshal was signed upon. Even after coming here, BJP MLAs were not ready to ask the L-G to pass that Cabinet note. This is a betrayal against the bus marshal. The things that were to be done by the cabinet - to regularise bus marshals and civil defence volunteers, have been done. Now, the BJP has to regularise them and allot them joining letters,” the Delhi CM added.
The BJP Delhi official handle posted on X about the meeting of Saxena with bus marshals and said, "The Lt Gov Delhi met with a delegation of Bus Marshals today and assured them that their request would be given positive consideration. The meeting was arranged by State President Virendra Sachdeva. The Delhi BJP does not believe in politicizing humanitarian causes, which is why we facilitated a direct meeting."
Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said that BJP Delhi chief Vijender Gupta has asked for the time to meet the CM, assuring that he would let the rest of the work be done through L-G.
Meanwhile, the bus marshals have been protesting to get reinstated after Saxena terminated their services in October last year.
Saurabh Bharadwaj and other party members were detained by police on Thursday while protesting at Chandgiram Akhara in Delhi.
