French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an alliance with the left-wing bloc after the far-right surged in the first round of parliamentary elections. Marine Le Pen’s far-right party National Rally got more than 33% votes along with its allies. Macron’s centrist coalition was at a distant third with just 20 percent votes.
