Sonia Gandhi’s much-awaited memoir Belonging, globally published by Alfred A. Knopf, an imprint of Penguin, is scheduled for release on November 10. But while the book is expected to become one of the year’s biggest political publishing events, its India edition will reportedly have a different publisher, with HarperCollins India emerging as the likely home. Accoring to sources, Sonia Gandhi’s book deal with Penguin Random House India (PRHI) fell through as she refused to make changes or deletions of references to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, and Chinese intrusions.
